Newbie from NC!

Hi y'all. My husband and I have been tent camping for years and are finally ready to upgrade to a TT, especially with our 9-year old and 2 dogs! We'll be using the TT mostly on weekends for quick trips to the nearby lakes (Jordan Lake and Falls Lake) and a few times a year to the beach. We're still in the "research" and gathering information stage. We'll be renting a TT down at Holiday Travel Park at Emerald Isle in May to camp for a long weekend to get the feel of it to make sure that it is what we really want too. Not sure if we'll buy this fall or wait until the February RV shows here in NC. In the Forest River lines, we're looking at the Salem Cruise Lite 174BH, Flagstaff Micro Lite 19FD, Rockwood Mini Lite 1809S or 1905, Rockwood Roo183, Surveyor 192T and the Shamrock 19. Any input to any of those would be appreciated! Just wanted to drop by and say "hey!" I have already found so much useful information here and can't wait to keep learning!

Welcome and happy TT hunting. Don't be afraid to spend time in a trailer checking it out before buying.

Hello and welcome from Mebane, NC! I see you are from Cary, we used to live in Cary. Take your time researching tt. Sit in them and imagine your usage. Think about where you will put things (ie moms clothes in that closet, dishes in this cabinet, kids toys in that drawer, outside chairs in this compartment etc). Act out daily activities (ie mom cooking, kids playing, and dad walking around tt, going to bathroom etc ). Also think about moving around the dogs and whether or not you might need to have a dog crate. This will give you a good idea of trailer functionality for your family. Pay close attention to the true towing capabilities of your vehicle not what the internet specs say it can tow. Also shop by tt gvwr not dry weight. If you need more help with understanding weights, there us a ton of help here. Know before you buy what is safe for your vehicle. A really good local dealership is important for service after the sale. If you want to know some that we have found good in the area feel free to message me.
