Newbie In Canada - Trouble with Hot Water Heater (Solved)

I have recently purchased a Hertigage Glenn 312 QBUD. The hot water heater fires up when we first plug in to the electrical for about a minute but does not fire up again and the water does not heat.
We are hoping this is a simple fix we are missing as we live 5 hours from the nearest RV dealer for a fix and 22 hours from the dealer where we purchased our trailer.
Thank you
Terri

When you say the water heater "fires up" that would be propane, and has nothing to do with plugging in, as the water heater runs off of battery and propane. It may be electric also, but save that for later.

You didn't say new or used on the camper. Does the stove work, will the furnace come om on and heat? Are you getting propane to all of the camper?

If new, are you sure the water heater is full of water,(open pop off valve). May be in winterize mode. Do search on hear for water heater, and you'll learn a lot.

And WELCOME to the forums.

Thank you for the reply Windrider.
We did buy new late last year.
I wondered the same thing about "firing up" and electric. The water heater does run on propane but the ingniter seems to be powered by the electric.
The other appliances that work on propane work great. The furnace, the stove, the oven and the BBQ.
The water tank does seem to be filing as it has a release valve for us to check to ensure water is in there. In addition when we turn the hot water tap on the first time we use the trailer after hooking up I get warm water for about a second then cold.
I will do a search for water heater on the here to see.
Thank you for your help
Terri

If you get warm water for a second, and then cold, you bypass valve is in the wrong position, and maybe the others. Sounds like you are in winterize mode. The search should solve you problem.

Thank you Windrider, first thing this morning we went out and checked and you were right. It was the bypass valve. Now I have hot water.
Happy Camping.
