I know, and I've had some really helpful people between threads and PM's. But between my inexperience and miscalculations attracting unwanted attention to others just being ready to complain about my posts, my first couple days have been very frustrating at times. I've only had one person I think actually post on his 296 and tell me his thoughts. And one other did comment on FR as a manufacturer. Have had one guy try to help with some weight numbers which I appreciated especially considering my drastic under estimations at first and making me put pen to paper. Anyways I think Ill be having this thread deleted soon and just browse around. And hopefully if I do need help in the future it'll be much easier to attain. Again appreciate the heads up, and thanks to anyone who's been willing to help or at least try.

Welcome to the Forums

Couple of points - #1 these forums are not run by or controlled by Forest River. Having said that, I can tell you that IMO Forest River are a good RV manufacturer. Having said *that* I firmly believe that it is not so much manufacturer as it is the dealer. Sure a company either has or does not have a good reputation but we have found that it really comes down to the RV dealer as far as quality control and ensuring that things "just work."

We have finally found a dealer that we consider honest, has our trust, and provides 5 star customer service. They are not local - in fact they are 100 miles away. Does not matter, we will go that distance to do business with them.

Your MMV, but I doubt it. Once you find a good dealer, 95% of any issues you have or might have in the future will disappear!

Again, welcome and don't worry about any newbie gaffs you may have made. Anyone who holds those against you probably needs to take a chill pill and remember we were all new at one time and we picked up this 'hobby' to relax and not get all bend outta shape

Welcome to the Forum.

I can not speak for your make or model, but we have had had two Forest River Puma fifth wheels & had very little problems from either.

You will get all kinds of opinions here as you have seen..............

Good Luck &

Hello phathead 19. Welcome to the forum. First let me apologize for the rough ride on your first posts. We talk up this forum all the time including at the Toronto RV Show and hopefully again at the Kitchener RV Show. I can promise you that is not the reception you will come to expect here. There are a great bunch of knowledgeable helpful and truly nice people here. I am unable to help you directly with your Cadet info as we own a 27vfk V-Cross but I am not afraid to say you have chosen a great manufacturer who stands behind their products 100%. As mentioned it may be necessary to work around the dealers sometimes but that is a good excuse to gather in Goshen each year. As fellow Canadians we hope to meet up some time and in the mean time travel safely and don't be shy about posting questions. You will get the hang of it soon enough and probably be teaching us a thing or two. Hope to see you around. Old Guys (Brian and Joanne)

Don't skimp on a cheap WD hitch...it'll make your tow experience so much better!

We've only bought FR campers and have been very happy with all our units...I've found that finding a great dealership to help handle your service & issues is key to a happy camper ownership

Enjoy & Happy Camping!

Thanks everyone. Appreciate all that. As far as wd hitches I've been eyeballing equalizer or Reese with sway control. Anything ideas on those two and a rough price range. Believe I'll be looking at 1200lb models if I'm not mistaken (again dry tongue weight is 890lbs

Equalizer is the most preferred hitch...approx $500-700

actually, when you include shipping, which PPL does not, RVWholesalers is cheaper, since they offer free shipping.

I agree with you on the 1200. Check with your purchasing dealer on a price. Mine beat the best price I found.
