Newbie parking problems back end dragging

Hi, we bought trailer few days ago and brought it home yesterday and tried to park next to our house where there is a nice space on the side with gravel.

Going up over the curb a short distance the v metal parts dragged and after using some plywood as ramps were able to get mostly into place.

This had me worried about camping spots, low spots getting into store and gas and other driveways, etc.

We called dealer and they said you can flip the axle but it will cause our 1 yr warranty to be void so we are thinking about waiting a year but have long trip planned this summer and wondering how it will go.

Same thing with putting on skid rollers dealer says in sandy or dirt area they won't help. And also by welding on would void warranty.

We are thinking of just bringing some plywood with us in case we need it.

We have 2018 Forest River Cruise Lite 263BHXL

Over the years, I have always carried 4 to 6 pieces of 2 x 6 x 2 foot long to help out in leveling my RV and also for the same reason you are talking about. It might be best to taper the leading edge to maybe a 45 angle.

The wood comes in handy to place under the tires on the low side to help level it.

Are they torsion or spring axles. If they are spring axles, Lippert makes an alignment kit that not only gives you alignment options, but raises the trailer about 2”. This wouldn’t void the warranty.

Spring but we need more than 2 inches, now trailer stuck in driveway while hubby trying to move and he is saying we need to do major leveling in gravel/dirt area on side before it will work, he is very frustrated and thinking about taking trailer back

You all probably are wondering why we even bought one! Sales guy just said to make ramp which my husband went to Home Depot and did and a neighbor who owned trailer came over and gave advice and we finally got it all figured out and parked!

Sorry for freaking out!

Always stressy in the beginning. There is a fast learning curve though.

Enjoy your trailer. It will all work out.

Welcome to the Forums!!

Welcome to RV life!

You're lucky that all you needed was a
ramp! Many of the folks here bought a new trailer and then discovered they needed a new truck to pull it and then later they needed a new pole barn or shed
to park it all in!!

Ask me how I know that

treelady61, Congrats on new TT. Been there and done that. Came home with new TH and backed in to storage bldg and hit a brace with the A/C shroud. had to repair shroud. DW was some kind of mad. Had to raise 18' x 25' storage bldg. That was fun. Now all is good. Happy RVing!

Not backing straight in will quite often help. Back in at an angle and straighten up once past the angle. I could never back straight into my driveway but it's a double wide so I have the room to take the approach at an angle. The same applies for getting in an out of gas stations etc. Take them at an angle to avoid dragging the back end.
