Newbie says hello to all

My wife and I are brand new owners of a 2011 Palomino Puma Unleashed Toyhauler, model 21TFU. We will pick it up this Monday, 4/18/11. We are very excited about the purchase and can't wait to use it. Have a 98 Jayco popup now, which we really enjoyed. Only problem was getting the motorcycle to the campsite. Won't be a problem now. I will be towing the toy hauler with a 97 F-150 Lariat, 4.6l, 3.55 rear end and complete towing package.

Any advise or suggestions will be appreciated.

Welcome and enjoy your new toy hauler.
I am surprise you are pulling it with only a F-150 but you should know what the trailer weighs and your limits.

Head up to Branson MO May 1-4 and join us at the 1st Forest Rivers Owners Group (FROG) rally.
See below for details

The only advice I have is to make sure you use a weight distribution hitch. Otherwise, you should be fine. Have fun and from one Newbie to another, welcome to the forums.

Iggy, You are correct about being suprised. On the way home, the 4.6l F-150 just didn't have enough power to pull efficiently. We purchased a 2011 F-150, FX2, with the Ecoboost twin turbo engine. 360 hp, 420lbs torque at low rpm. WIll make the maiden voyage for Memorial Day.

We fell victim to that too. We have a 2011 mini lite 2502s we were pulling with an 03 Tacoma v-6 will w-d and anti sway. It did ok, but after 3 trips we realized we needed more truck. Upgraded to a 2011 Tundra 5.7 liter v-8, towed twice now and it is much better.

The 2011 F-150, with the ecoboost engine, can pull 11,300 lbs with a 3.73 rear end gear or 9100 lbs with a 3.55.

I will let all know after Memorial Day weekend how it performed. My trailer, maxed out, will weigh a little less than 8k lbs.
