NH to AK

We are starting our 6,000 mile trip this week from NH to AK in our newly purchased 2011 Forester 3171. Four adults, two grand kids, two dogs and a jeep toad. Wish us luck.

We have a 3 week time line starting with a stops at Niagara Falls, Bad Lands, Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone and ever else we have time for.

This is our first real RV trip after a shake doown trip from NH to GA and back.

Time will tell.

That's over 10,000 miles in 21 days (476 miles/day). Doesn't leave much time for sightseeing. What is the route for only 6,000 miles?

My map system is giving us the 6,000 mile number.

Will keep you posted.

Top, did you realize he was an Officer?

Are you still sure you want to let him figure this out?

You might want to recheck your distances.... My map shows 4,500 miles one way to Anchorage... (9,000 miles round trip)

That's 428 miles a day which leaves little time for any sight seeing...

Just be aware that its a really long trip.... Wish we were going also but I'd allow at least an extra week....

The one way trip from NH to AK with the stops is est to be around 6,000 over the planned 3 weeks.

We pulled out of Laramie this morning headed to Jackson, WY and the Tetons.

Three nights at Yellow Stone and now north to Glacier National park in MT before crossing over into Canada.

Temp dropped at Yellow Stone from 81 to 37 last night. Needed the LP heat for the first time, heat pump has taken care of it up to then.

Made it over the AK highway with only one stone chip to the windshield.

I will say that the unit has done well, with all the rough road e everything has worked well.

Did finely find out what was making all the noise with the window units. It was the pull down shades, put a little felt on the backs and stopped the noise.

We are just about at 6,000 miles with a 600 more to go.

Gas at Tok, was at 4.07 when we pulled in to refuel, dropped over night 3.99.

Spent a night in Valdez and then on to Anchorage..... We drove the Jeep toad the last 300 miles from Valdez because one of the tow points had started to break the weld.

We think the frost heaves may have been to much for it.

Three weeks, 6,600+ miles $4,000 of fuel...towing a 4 door Jeep. Not to bad for our first outing...
