protential Surveyor owner

Hello everyone,
I'm protentially purchasing a 2003 surveyor SV233T hybrid travel trailer and I have acouple of questions that I can't seem to find on the net. Is the Surveyor considering an upgrade from the Shamrock or ROO models? What kind of issues might this yr and model have? and is there anything I should look into when looking over it tonight? Thanks, george

Also, anyone know where I can find and old brouchure or web piece on the 2003 SV233T. Thanks for all the help and I hope it works out tonight. It looks to be a good rig..

Surveyor was a separate company that FR bought and added to their lineup.
Roo/Shamrock are made at one factory and Surveyor is at another factory. same thing with Palomino.

Surveyor advertises them as "superior" to other hybrids, but i found them to not much different than the Roo/Shamrock.
they did seem to have better canvas, maybe Sunbrella, on their hybrids.
they may have certain components that are better quality but overall, the quality and fit/finish was about the same.

we too, were interested in the 233T. but the DW liked the 23SS layout better, especially since visitors didn't have to walk past the kitchen to sit down.

there was someone else, DarkRose, who just bought a 233T a couple of weeks ago and posted here. he asked questions about the shepherd's pole. he got pics from another 233T owner, JimChow.
his post is a few below yours.

be sure to post on the Expandable section here at FRF. there's a Surveyor section there.

Welcome to the forum. We have a 2008 233T that we enjoy very much. Not sure how it (2008 233T) compares to the 2003 model but compared to the 2007 model the ’08 is taller and I think wider. The ’08 has 30lb LP tanks instead of 20lb LP tanks. Different color scheme also. Look at the drawer slides to see that they are not broken. Make sure to check the rubber roof. At 3 years old ours is still fine. Ours is stored uncovered and outside year round. Also check the tent ends for tears/rips and check the zipper action too. I think the layout is still the same as the ’08 which we liked over some others. Make sure the fridge works if possible. There were some recalls but not sure if that model was affected. The ’08 may have a little more inside storage, not sure. Since the 233T is low we sometimes scrap the driveway going in and out so you might want to see if that is a concern on the ’03. All things considered we really enjoy ours very much and we are in it now in northern Michigan for another 4 days. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Wink 2005 Surveyor 233t

We just purchased a used one as well and love it. There are very nice units out there but thought this model/brand just seemed a step above and looked the nicest with a lot of storage potential. It also is very solid to tow but very light. We modified our '03 F150 V6-4.2 and it pulls/handles no problem!
