Smile Ready to Roll-Jumping into the Deep End!!

After many, many months of wasting various area dealers time, multiple RV shows, a full subscription to Trailer Life plus a few months, two rental camper trips to figure out if we really do want to make the jump we have purchased our first RV!!!!!
We found a 2011 Coachmen 28DDS at a local dealer who I felt very comfortable dealing with and took the time to find out what we wanted vs. what he felt we needed. That coupled with my own endless hours of research makes me feel very good about our decision. I decided to go with a Husky Centerline Hitch that the dealer threw in for a minimal amount….Even though I did not have much knowledge of this hitch brand it is similar to the Equalizer in function and set up. The only down side I have seen is the Issue with aligning the truck within 5 deg of the centerline during hitching and un hitching. This potentially could be an issue....any users who have this system I would be glad to hear your experiances.
As an engineer I am very inserted in the operation of all the systems and seem have taken lots of time with the Ipad while laying in bed at night viewing the forums, solar possibilities, Inverters, converters, generators, hitches, glitches, niches and anything else that might be beneficial to our purchase. Even with all the research I still sometimes feel lost…..defiantly a all consuming endless task!!
Our TV is a 2011 Ram 1500 with the Outdoorsman package. This includes a brake controller, class V hitch and 3.92 gears for a tow rating of 10K…..we will be far under this number to the tune of about 7K at the max. My wife and I are looking forward to many fun weekends with my kids getting away from everything. A few friends and I have already reserved a camp site for the April Nascar weekend in KC. Having never been to a race it will be an eye opener.
For my wife, the task of fill in the unit with goods is especially exiting as this means she can retire a ton of our cookware to the trailer and get brand new goods for the house!
