Reservations at national parks
I am having trouble making Reservations at national parks. We are from Washington state and their website is very easy to use and quick. Just wondering if its normal for the site to be sluggish?

They "upgraded" the Recreation.Gov site a little while ago and it seems to have a problem with some browsers. Try clearing your cache and if that doesn't work, you may want to try another browser.

Yes the national parks reservation web site is totally messed up.
A couple weeks ago I got an email saying due to an emergency at my campground my reservations were being cancelled. This was south Florida, nothing to do with the hurricane. Then a few hours later I got another email saying to ignore the first message. It was all a mistake due to them switching to a new reservation system.
Then yesterday I got an email from them saying pretty much the same thing but this time it was for a campground we stayed in last weekend. They were canceling my reservations that had already been used.
Their computers are really screwed up!

Seems like a common theme. California state parks switched to a dependent site of their own which makes ReserveAmerica looks great. ReserveCalifornia (California Reserve?) is the pits. I’ve given up on state park reservations except for checking for opening due to cancellation.

Typical story - Agency probably felt a "need" to change things up and decided to spend some money on a revamp rather than leave things well alone. If it ain't broke, Don't fix it! Unless this new recreation.gov site gets me a waterfront at Raystown Lake every time!

My understanding is that they changed vendors. Done all the time with all vendors of various types with the National Parks.

Well, I believe Biospherics does the 800 end of the business, but haven't been able to determine if they also are in charge of the web site. Guy I work with has a DiL who travels for the company negotiating the contracts. I'm trying to find out more details, but it's like pulling teeth.
