Returning to RV. New 279RLDS Freedom Express

Hello

We are from northern California. This past weekend we purchased a 2017 Freedom Express 279RLDS. We are looking forward to our return to the RV life. Sadly though my opinion of Forest River quality control has greatly diminished after looking over our trailer and having to fix some issues that were not found on the walkthrough. I don't suppose forest river cares and would actually respond to a rant if I emailed them about the countless issues I found. LOL.

Use your FR warrenty if you have issues

If there are defects in your unit, take it to any FR dealer. They will be more than happy to fix them since they will invoice FR for the repairs with a comfortable profit. BUT, be sure to do it before your warranty expires

Sadly there is a 4 month backlog to get in for repairs. The issues are that of which it would just be more sensible for me to fix them. But it's annoying that they even exist. Someone on the build line must have been having a bad day. LOL

The first issue was the RCA cable that exits the cabinet and plugs into the TV was way too short. And whoever ran the cable did not follow the proper path to get it installed. They went along the fridge as opposed to using the hole it was meant to go through. Once the fridge was installed and foam blown in the cable can't be moved. So last night I took a new RCA cable and ran it the proper path from the DVD player to the TV. 20 minutes and its fixed.

The second issue is the WIFI camera setup. They never bonded the plugs together before stuffing them into the wall. So the power became disconnected in the wall. Also one of the crimps on the selector switch was poorly done. I just opened the control panel to get access to the cables and reconnected the power and then bonded them together. A new crimp, soldered and shrink wrapped fixed the selector switch.

People that build really need to take a bit more pride in their work. There's a whole lot of ugly inside the walls of the RV thats for sure. Hopefully there won't be any more need to self-service it again for a while.
