Rockwood 2606 first time out & no hot water

Hello folks.
I have been a ghost member of this forum for 2 + years now. I have learned a lot and appreciate everyone taking their time to help fellow campers.

I am on my maiden adventure with my new 2019 Rockwood 2606ws.

My first camper was a 2017 rockwood mini lite. The hot water heater had an easy outside access. I never had any problems with gas or electric hot water.

Today my big problem is I have no hot water. I need all the help and advice you all can give me.
I turned the electric hot water switch off, as soon as I realized it was not working.

Is the hot water heater in the bathroom or under the kitchen sink, via the floppy access panel. What is the best way to open the panel ?

These are the only places I can think of where it could possibly be. There are no mechanical outside access doors.

Once you help me locate it, what am I supposed to do to get it working ? I do not want to burn up the hot water heater.

Or should I just boil water for dishes and take cold showers, until I can get back to dealership.

Thank you all for your help.

This is my 3rd year camping.
Thankfully my first problem.

It probably has a bypass valve. You have to fill the tank with water before you operate it. HW tanks can be anywhere. I have had them accessable from the outside, under a bunk and under the bathroom sink.

if it runs on propane it must have an outside access.

It is under kitchen sink. It also has a second switch outside under the black access panel so you have to turn both to on position to work on electric.

To be clear the outside access panel is under the kitchen window. The switch is near bottom of panel. Turn outside switch on then the inside switch on and it will work. Just make sure water is in the tank.

Looking at pics of your model, I'm betting the WH is located behind the black panel that is located outside between the furnace vent and your front storage hatch. From the inside, that would be under/near your kitchen sink. Should have 2 snap/twist latches to keep the cover in place. If yours is like mine, there is a second hard to see electric switch on the WH itself that is accessible from outside the trailer. Probably a black rocker switch.

Also check that the bypass valves are in the right setting.

Good luck.

I found the outside switch and turned it to on.
Put water heater on electric and have hot water.

I could not get the panel out under the kitchen sink.
I am gathering that switch was in the proper position since I now have hot water.

I Hope assuming will not cause any proplems.

I will head back to dealer on the way home for advise

Does this all sound ok to you ? Thank you all for the help

Make sure to turn the outside switch off when wrapping up your trip. If you empty the tank and not turn the power off you will burn up your element

Odds are you will get better advice here than at the dealer!

They should have shown you all this at the PDI.

You are good to go. I have never removed the panel under the sink. When you winterize you can reach over the panel and reverse the 3 valves to bypass the tank. I was puzzled as well about the outside switch luckily my wife spotted it and hot water in minutes. Enjoy your new trailer.
