Rookie Camper Owner

My wife and I just bought our first travel trailer. We looked at buying a class A motor home, but decided we would wait until we were older to get into one of those.

Instead in February, we purchased a new 2012 Forest River Grey Wolf 27BH. It has several features that I think will make our first camper experience, less of a headache, that is, as long as things do not go wrong or break. We live near Dayton, Ohio, so we are planning on hitting up most of the camping attractions within a 2hr shot this summer. At the moment we have 7 trips already booked, all of which are practice for when we pull it to Glen Arbor, Michigan (about an 8hr trip) for our two week family vacation in August. We have always gone there and camped with the family, but either tent camped or bunked up in other people's campers.

Being that it is our first camper, we are excited to get it out and use it. If anyone has any tips or pointers to throw our way, they would be greatly appreciated. And if anyone is camping in the Dayton area (2hr radius) let us know, we might see you there. It is always fun meeting new couples and families while out camping!

Congrats on your new trailer! As for advice I would suggest not sweating the small stuff and trying to keep it simple while determing your camping style. Many of us here camped close to home for the first trip. It's a great way to test the waters by refreshing the memory from the PDI.

Good luck and have fun!
