School of hard knocks graduate joining forum

We completed our first 1.5 month cross country last year in our A192HW then started our second two months ago. Half way across the right tire exploded and shredded the wheel well, adjacent floor, microwave cabinet, electrical and propane.
We dropped it in Texas at a competent shop (Ricks RV Kaufman TX) and just retrieved it. An expensive tire!@

Joining the forum to stay on top of maintenance, look for tips and see cool modifications others have done.

Thanks!

If you don't have already, a TPMS might have warn you of an imminent tire trouble.......

What brand name tire and load rating?

Did you file a NTSP complaint?

I never thought to write the NTSB

This is partially my fault. I felt a vibration the day prior and wanted to ride in the trailer briefly to see. Yes I know not a good idea in a folded up hardside.

It blew in the dark next morning before I had that chance. A TPMS would not have helped as it went from 60 to 0 instantly.

I have since done a lot of research. ALL of the ST tires are prone to this. Anyone with tires large enough to have a LT tire should go that route. There are no LT tires in 13".
Now running Goodyears but they have reports of tread separation as well.

For now I will change them every season. A lot cheaper than the $3800 repair.
The only good that came out of it was the shop refused to recreate the silly propane hose in the hatch and made a nice external quick release aft of the wheel well.
The propane hose was eaten by the belts and venting into the area which had 12 v wires sparking
