Shasta Revere Opinion
Finally a place to vent, and maybe save someone the trouble I experienced. I just got rid of, without question, the biggest piece of garbage I have ever owned. I've never owned anything that gave me as much trouble as this POS, 2014 Shasta Revere, 32DS. Within the first year, I had it back to the dealer 3 times for warranty work, each time with a laundry list of problems. Not to mention things that I fixed on my own. The design and layout of some features was obviously not very well thought out. Plugs in the back bedroom were covered with the door open, rendering them basically useless. Black/gray water valve not accessible with slide out, unless you want to crawl under there on your belly. Cabinets that are so deep, you can't reach to the back. I could go on all day. And towing,,, oh boy. I have a one ton dually and it would throw that truck around like you couldn't believe. And yes everything was set up right, I've been towing things most of my 50 years. The lack of quality was unreal. Cabinet doors suck, fuse panel cover fell off each trip, bed lumpy and uncomfortable as hell, laminate coming unglued, bulbs burned out, window shades broken.
So after throwing in the towel, we took it in to broom it. Found a nice new unit, NOT owned by forest river. I had to take the meat on the trade, but it was worth it. So we're out in the lot looking over the new unit, and the kid doing the walk around asks me, "what kind of trailer did you trade in?" When I told him he sort of smiled, and he asked why was I trading in such a new unit. I didn't want to say what a POS it was, so as I was thinking of a line to tell him, he said, "how did it tow?" And before I could answer he said their delivery drivers fight over having to tow these things from Indiana because they tow to the point of being dangerous. I laughed and said "well, they're right. I never felt comfortable towing that thing".
Sorry,,, maybe I got a lemon, but I had to warn people about these things because I feel that beyond the quality issues, this is a dangerous unit, especially if you have a smaller truck. Shasta and Forest River have lost a customer for life. Buyer beware.
