Something big followed us home...
Actually we went to get it! We picked our Rockwood 2502 after several weeks trying to decide if we should. It's not our first RV, but it is the first that we intend to travel with. Our old trailer is set up permanent at a nearby campground.
We aren't kids anymore, and it was a big decision -- especially because our TV is a Highlander. Not ideal, to say the least. Anyway, we got a great deal on the TT and left home Saturday morning for the 300 mile round trip.
Turns out my nervousness was unfounded, the car handled the trailer fairly well with the WDH setup, but the six is way underpowered. The car worked hard to maintain 60mph and that dropped me under 10mpg. I slowed down towards the end, and the computer indicated mpg was climbing. Looks like 55mph is the magic number for this combo.... maybe a PU is in my future!
Looking forward to the adventure and wanted to say hi!
John

Welcome to the forums and congrats on the Rockwood too! Do you have any plans for the first trips yet?
Happy camping.

Not really, it's setup in the drive right now and stayed in it Sunday night. We have a lot of planning and figuring to get ready for our first real trip. We are hoping to use it at least a couple times before the snow flies here in NY, but that could be any minute, lol!

Congratulations! I hope you have many wonderful camping experiences with it.
You should be able to find places to camp now that Labor day's past. At least around here it seems like the camping season dries up after that weekend and there's plenty of vacancies again. Well, at least most places unless they're holding a Halloween Weekend. Those are often still booked up.
And yes, if you're having trouble pulling more than 55, then considering a new vehicle is a good idea, provided you have the budget. Don't necessarily have to go with a pick-up, there's also a good range of SUVs with decent towing capabilities that people tend to overlook because they automatically assume Trailer = Truck.

We've driven through a couple nearby campgrounds, there are a couple nice ones not too far from home. I figure that will be important for the maiden voyage... I'm sure we'll forget much.

(chuckle) I love that excuse!
Well, we took our 8 month old V-Lite in for warranty work, and a brand new 5th wheel followed us home!
Welcome to the forum!

That shouldn't matter. You set the avatar in your profile. If you're on the website, click on "User CP" up above (2nd from the left). Then on the left hand side you should have options to do things like "edit Avatar", "edit profile picture" etc...

I'm on an ipad. Couldn't see any way to edit my profile. Gonna take some time to figure out the software.

Ahh, ok. Through the app I'm guessing? Well, you can also access the site via Safari and get the usual web browser experience. Then edit the profile from there.
