Towing with Toyota Highlander

Hey new friends,

Does anyone out there use a Toyota Highlander to tow a lite weight TT? According to all our research it should work but now I've heard a few not so good stories. Any success stories?

Please provide additional information. What is dry weight of TT, What is Max weight of TT ( can find n sticker on side of TT). Does Highlander have factory tow package ( more than just a hitch and lights)? Do you have a brake controller? What is GVWR GCVWR of TV ( can find on sticker on drivers door). Beware of assurances from salesperson that it will not be a problem.

Also what year. Older Highlanders are way different than the newer ones, which are almost minivans.

Current towing rating is 5000 pounds. I always thought they'd be similar to the Sienna minivan which is rated at 3500 pounds.

At 5000 pounds you won't be able to tow much of a TT. Being a SUV, the payload capacity will be much less than a Tacoma so you'll be very limited.

A high wall Popup would be a better choice.
