Wannabe RV'er

Howdy from North Texas. Do not own an RV yet but the wife and I are looking at a 2013 Cherokee 264BH. The options that most interest me are:

Ducted air conditioning
Outdoor kitchen
Ceiling fan
Backpack storage rack
Drop down bunks over seating area

Cons:
The internet price is $21,637; more than I really care to spend for my first RV.

Pros:
The wife likes it.
Plenty of room for the kids/grandbaby to camp with us.
The outdoor kitchen would help reduce heat in the TT during a good ol' Texas summer.
Short enough clearance-wise to fit in my barn (barely).
F250 Powerstroke shouldn't have any trouble pulling it.
I understand there is usually a fair amount of negotiating room in RV's.

Now I welcome responses from the actually informed...

Thanks,

Rusty

first, which "internet" place did you get the quote?
places like RVW and RVDirect are so low, there's very little negotiating room.

Google that trailer model. I found them for $17,500 online.
Good luck with your purchase.

Shop around and get quotes. Use the quotes against each of the dealers to pull down prices. Our Grey Wolf had a MSRP of $25k and we got it for 16.7k. The Cherokee line is the parent line to Grey Wolf, so they run a little higher, but I would think 17k range should be attainable for a 26' one. If they get into the 18's, and say thats as low as they can go, I would push for a WDH installed and anything else you might want as an initial add on and see if they give it to you free. A hitch and some goodies can easily make up 1k in the price.

Thanks everyone. The price I had was from the dealer's website. I'd be a lot more comfortable around $17k.

Thanks for the Welcome! I read the Confessions yesterday. Very informative.

Ironically I received a call about 9 o'clock last night from the dealership we bought our last two vehicles from. New salesman wanted to make us a great deal on buying the wife's truck....

I get a letter and/or email about once a month from my truck dealership begging me to sell them my truck. They are critically short of used diesels and will give me top dollar for mine.

LOL
