water leak in wall

We are looking at buying a used 2007 rockwwod travel trailer from a dealer and when we went into front bedromm the wall has got water damage in it. The dealer said they were going to replace the entire wall with a new one. Do you think this is a good idea or would you pass on this camper and get a different one. What do you think are rockwood travel trailers good quility or not this would be our first forest river product let me know

In my opinion, you will get screwed by this dealer.

Once you sign, it is yours and you will never see that new wall.

If they were honest, that camper would have already had a new wall before it went on the lot. RUN do not walk away from this "deal".

Water in walls is what KILLS campers. It should be headed back to a major repair facility, not a local dealer's chop shop.

I would also pass on this. If there is evidence of water damage to the wall, then there is also water damage and quite possibly mold in the interior portions which cannot be seen. If the dealer repairs the wall, that is probably all they replace, just the visible damage.

Unless they allow you to be present when they take it apart and make the repairs, you will not know until you have problems later down the road. PASS ON IT!!!

to the forum.

I agree with everyone else. They may replace the wall, but there could also be roof and floor damage as well. Keep looking. There are good deals on good tt's out there. I'm sure you'll find one. Let us know how things turn out.

Never buy a camper with visible signs of water damage... Most of the damage is unseen. Learn how to assess for water damage also. Feel for soft spots in ceilings, on walls, floor. Make sure all seals are water tight. If any any any seals looks cracked, pass on the camper. It means the owner did not do proper maintenance which includes every six months checking and repairing seals. Water is the death of campers. It takes 1000's to repair water damage.
