We finally got off the ground, literally...

Hey all!

My wife and I have been tent camping regularly for the last 25 years. It evolved from basic tent and camp stove to what I refer to as “Outdoor Living”. We really enjoyed it, cabin tent, Color TV, gas heat, portable AC, queen inflated bed.

Things began to turn over the last few years. As we got older, the setup and breaking camp just took the gas out of us. Especially when we made base camp at Fort Clinch in north Fla. We setup and the next morning headed out to South Carolina to witness the solar eclipse. A spirtual experence to say the least.

Anyway, we returned to camp to find heavy rains had moved through. The next morning it took almost 3 hours to clean the mud off the equipment and stow it in the Explorer.

On the drive home to Ft. Pierce, we disscussed how this camping thing has become less fun and more work, at least it seemed that way. We are both getting a little long in the tooth and work for fun ain’t so fun anymore.

It took us a while but finally broke down a few months ago and bought our first travel trailer. We’ve had it out a few times and wifey really likes it. Especially not having to go find a relief area in the middle of the night.

We’re planning our first long haul in May, up the east coast into Maine.

Wish us luck!

Happy to be here!

Wow, I graduated in past year too! My tent camping was never so fancy, lol. Air conditioning??? lmao. That would mean power was necessary. Which would attract people. And I don't like being around lots of people. Got tired of sleeping on ground so graduated to cots. And I thought I was being fancy with my battery powered fan! We'll see how this whole 'RV' thing goes. Hope it goes well for you!

Welcome from Baraboo, Wisconsin. You will find many very helpful people on here when you ask for help. Ask your questions and you will get good answers.
We traveled the east coast from South Carolina up to New Brunswick last summer and really enjoyed the trip. The only downside was the population density. We prefer less populated areas.

Welcome aboard, it is definitely better than a tent. Well for us it is and the set up and takedown is just as fast too.

You'll never regret it. My wife and I moved from tent camping for many years to a small motorhome. I'll never forget the first camping trip. We backed in to a level site, plugged the power in, and put the slideout out. We looked at each other like "Now what"? We were used to 2-3 hours of setup.

Welcome!

Welcome from Utah. The potty on wheels is a real blessing whether on the road or in the middle of the night. After tent camping & then a PUP for 27 years we went to a hybrid. One of the first trips out my wife said we have to stop at the next town so she could use the bathroom. A view area was only 1/2 mile away & so I pulled into it. She asked why we were stopping. "We're pulling a bathroom, why wait until the next town?" Yup, got to love it.
