Welcome to Hybrid Heaven

Hallo all! We're moving on up! Trading in our Jayco 1206 that has served the family so well and purchasing a Roo 233S this weekend. We have 5 kids so the space is a must!

Came across the PDI (for hybrids even! perfect!) and immediately bogarted that. I sense there is a wealth of information I'm going to love on here so I've signed up.

Look forward to meeting many of you online! And if you happen to wander into a KOA in New England: there's a good chance you'll find the LUVHUT from NH parked nearby!

welcome to FRF!!
you just bought the most popular hybrid floor plan out there.
be sure to check out the Roo and Shamrock sub-forums, since they are twin brands.
lots of helpful 233S owners here.

Thanks all for the warm welcomes. We went yesterday to sign on the new camper. Took a little work to chisel the ice away from a couple feet on the Jayco 1206. But I was ready to trade it in. Some elbow grease and a cup of rock salt and the feet came free! Then came the final tow down to West Boylston, MA to trade her in. Will miss her, she served us well. but there are great things ahead of us.

Now comes the long winter wait until delivery in April. Time to study the PDI list so we are prepared for that day!

i was thinking the same thing, since it looks like a newer Explorer, which has a max tow of only 5000lbs.

What you see there is a 2012 Dodge Durango. Everyone seems to think that will tow it just fine.

My Suburban (7000lbs) is borderline towing it. I'm really nervous for you and your family.

Ya don't have to convince us. You just have to convince it.

the 2012 durango has a max towing capacity of 7400 lbs. And thats with the V8. the V6 is only rated to 5000 lbs. The 233s weighs 4400lbs by itself, and thats before you add supplies, cargo, food, water, propane, etc. I believe the GVWR on the 233s is like 6400 lbs.

I think you are setting yourself up for a hard time. the v6 has a GVWR of 6500# and a curb weight of 4900 leaving 1600 lbs for payload. Figure on a 5500lbs trailer with 10% tongue weight (550#) that leaves 1050#. Figure on a full bag of gas (24 gallons at 7lbs each or 168#) leaves you 882 lbs of stuff you can carry in the truck with you. that includes people and everything else.

If you have the V8 its a little better at 7100# gross.

Tim

if you have the Hemi and a GOOD WDH, like an Equal-i-zer or Reese Dual Cam, you should be o.k.
