What I'm finding

I'm hoping you will let me pick your brain for advice. I found a used 2006 Lexington by Forest River that I really like. I almost bought a used one here in Weatherford. However, the asking price is 39,900 and NADA says 29K for high and 24, 350 for low. I know a lender will only finance 90% of the low value, but I've seen these rigs go for the 39. It has a Ford V-10 450 engine and looks to be in excellent shape. The owner will let me have an RV inspector look at it. The rig is in Prescot Valley, AZ. It is in RV trader...2006 Lexington, 3 slides and 33K miles. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks Pat

It seems everything I really like is a FR product. Now I'm really on the hunt to find something I can afford and enjoy. Thanks for the help.

I'm sure other ford guys will chime in, the V10 will pull great at the expense of horrible fuel economy, I would suggest the same rig with a Diesel engine. Just my two cents

Very solid advice. I don't see how they could be trying to get that much out of it with the 450, and I would probably choose a different market with prices so far and above NADA.

The mileage is great for the year, however.

Having owned a 450 big block before I would never do it again. You can almost watch the fuel gauge go down.

I think the V10 is a 415 cid. Next size up is the old 460 cid.

A 450CID would be like the older 7.3l PS engine.

If it is on an e350 orE450 chassis, you may be staring trouble in the face. Check out reliability on the 6.0L motor before you make a decision. The 6.8L v10 is a very powerful motor with a good repair record. The 6.0l diesei is plagued with problems, injectors, egr coolers and valves, a/c compressors, turbos, fan clutches to mention a few. It was so bad that there was a class action suit against Ford that ford lost.

What was wrong with that chassis? It'd been better with the 7.3L psd

What I'm finding

Thanks everyone for the input. I know the v-10 is a gas hog. How come there are so many out there? The dealerships are full of entry level class C's with that 350 or 450 Ford engine. Today I'm looking at a FR Lexington 24' that I really like. See......everything I find that I love is FR. They should pay me. This is a 2011 with 9080 miles 7 hours on the generator and the price is in line with NADA. Thinking, thinking.

If you like it, drive it, check it out. If that's your price, it's your money so make yourself happy, go for it
