Ac only blows on high.

My dash / vehicle ac will only blow on high. Once I turn it to low it will not work I was told it was a bad resistor thats usually close to the blower on cars and trucks. Any idea where to find it on the windsong?

What Does a Blower Motor Resistor Do?
By Andrea Stein, eHow Contributor

"Blower motor resistors help control vehicle blower motor air settings.
"Blower motor" refers to an electrically operated fan in a vehicle that supplies air to the passenger compartment. The heater blower resistor helps control the rate at which the blower motor supplies this air.

How to Change a Blower Motor Resistor How to Fix a Blower Motor Resistor

Definition
A blower motor resistor, typically located beneath the passenger side dashboard, contains three resistors, or sets of terminals designed to generate voltage in proportion to electrical current. These resistors allow the blower motor to function at lower speeds.

Function
Blower motor resistors contain controls that determine air settings. If the airflow exceeds a predetermined amount, the blower motor resistor reduces airflow through the vents via wire coils. Each coil is responsible for one speed setting: Thinner coils correspond to higher air settings and offer the least resistance (the least opposition to the flow of electric current), allowing the blower fan to rotate faster, while thicker coils correspond to lower air settings and force the fan to rotate more slowly.

Repair
If the blower motor resistor fails, the blower motor only functions at its highest speed and cannot decelerate. Replacing the blower motor resistor typically corrects this problem." c/o e-how Not easy to access but worh it DIY.

Thanks for the reply. I checked under the dash but it isnt there. I think I found where it would be under the hood next to the blower but I am unsure which unit to replace. Heck I dont even know how I would get one from the autoparts store since its on a motorhome and not a f250.

Ok , I got it removed and one is on order. Its on top of the heater box with a four prong connector. Motor craft part number d8bh19a706ab in case any one else needs one.

I have a 1999 Forest River Windsong 325s and called the local ford dealer and the part number for mine was a ford Motorcraft
44C2Z19A70AA the cost was $37.28 with tax. The part was in the engine compartment on the top of the passengers side on top of the black box with the yellow sticker. It has a clip with 4 prongs you just wiggle off and 2 Phillips screws holding it in. You will need a stubby short screw driver to get it out I had to chisel out some of the protective spray foam in mine to get to it. Mine doesn't have the black clip part around it not sure if the plug end will fit into it if not I will just remove it from the new part.

I replaced it almost two years ago and it never started working on anything other than high. I tried two new parts thinking I got a bad one but neither worked. I ended up selling it last September; the storage doors had rot and was going to be expensive to replace not to mention several small issues like the chassis ac not working correctly. I figured it was time to part ways with her before she cost me a lot of money. Overall I enjoyed ownership but I wasn't impressed with the quality from forest river.
