1141 vs 1156 bulb....what's the difference?

as i was taking apart my exterior light assemblies to check which bulbs i had, i noticed that the clear lamps in the rear (shining on by my rear door {toy hauler}) were an 1156 bulb. then when i checked the bulb behind the amber lens above the main entrance door it had an 1141. the bulbs look the same, and the 1156 works in the 1141 housing........so whats the difference? can i order an 1156 automotive LED light and use it? something like this.... http://www.dingjuled.com/UploadFiles...2512_49606.jpg

also, i see that my interior light assemblies use this 1141 bulb. can i used these automotive type bulbs in these as well? they are considerably cheaper than this type of bulb 200 Lumes 12V LED interior lighting RV and Trailer | eBay

Here is the diffrence
1141 Headlight, Spot Single Element/1-Contact, 12 Volt, 21 Candle power, Standard size 2-pin base, pins directly across, 1 15/16"

1156 Bright Bulb, 12 Volt, 35W, Single Element, light blue glass, bright white light, ( 2-pack), Standard size 2-pin base, pins directly across, 1 15/16" tall.

looks like the 1156 is brighter

The 1156 is brighter and will burn hotter. Could cause problems with lense melting.

I installed an 1156 equivalent LED bulb in my porch bug light (orig 1141 like yours) and ran it all this past weekend with no issues. Believe me, I *tried* to melt the lens housing.

Can't speak to interiors since I have 921's but I would think you would be OK.

Yellow lens and I use the "standard" white color. Same thing for the curb/roadside lights with clear lenses.

Inside, I use "Warm White" to offset the blueish tint of "standard" white LEDs.

i'm sure i will end up using the yellow lens with white bulb like you did. but since those lenses are cheep and the bulbs are not much more, i ordered a clear lens with and yellow bulb. im not sure if that will make it too bright and attract bugs or not. i definitely think it will look better with the clear lens vs the yellow lens. it will tie in quite nice with my clear lens clearance light assemblies
