2304 Front Window "Headboard"

We found from our experience with our first Rockwood that the front window let in way too much cold & we never once opened the front protective cover for light. So, in our new 2304, my wife decided to make a 'headboard' out of the front window area. First, we put some 1" foam padding (15” x 17” x 1” from Walmart) on the window with double-sided tape & then attached (permanently with screws) a 'yoga mat' that she had found. And the color matches too! The existing window frame screws along the bottom worked perfectly for the size of the mat - taking out 1 at a time. Now we have plenty of insulation & a comfy place to lean against as well. I was intending to put some insulation outside between the front protective shield & the window, but just don't need to.

Very Nicely done

If you ever decide to want to take that off you could change out the screws for the snap heads with screws then just put snaps on the fabric and you can now remove the cloth covering the window

BTW Cudos to the wife cause did a great looking job there

My wife appreciates the kudo's! If I don't give her credit due, you know I get in trouble! She's definitely the designer on this one, I can only claim input as the laborer!

Looks nice. I was looking for an idea to reduce the light coming in.

Just curious, does your new 2304 not have the Murphy bed?

I have noticed the brochure does not show it, but all the pictures I see of units for sale seem to have it.

Is the Murphy bed an option on the 2304?

We are seriously considering down sizing from our 8315SS to a 2304.

Thanks,

John U

NKarenG - Thanks for the comment. The design was more for insulation, but it certainly cuts out the light from the front window.

John - Our 2304 is a 2011 model year; it does not have the murphy bed. When we bought, the unit was a custom build as the standard 2304 was built with the murphy bed at the time. I've noticed over the past few years that the murphy bed was the standard design until just recently. Now I see that the FR website shows the fixed bed as standard. I'd guess that what's out there for sale are units up thorough the 2013 model year built as "standard" with the murphy bed.

We really love our floorplan - it's perfect for the two of us. The bathroom has more room than most shorter units, and there's plenty of storage with the pantry and pass-thru under the bed.
