30/50 amp extension cord mod

Just thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone else has a long (75ft +) run to get to their electric. My seasonal sites electric is at the front of the site and the camper is situated about 100 ft away in the back. I thought about buying a couple 50 ft 30 amp extension cords from a camper store but worried and voltage loss over that far of a span so I decided to make my own. I used 75 ft of 8/3 with ground outdoor use electric wire( not cheap!!). I put a replacement 30 amp male plug on one end, fed the wire through 70 ft of 1 1/4 PVC, and wired the other end into a 30 amp receptacle box with a breaker. I put a 4x4 post on the back side of the camper and mounted the breaker box to it. Now I have my electric access close by if I need to shut it off. I went with the 8/3 wire for 2 main reasons. As I already said, I was worried about voltage loss for that long of a distance, and if we upgrade to a 50 amp camper I don't have to upgrade the wire. I don't have specific pics but I have attached a picture of the site. The wire runs along the ground in the left side of the photo.

I believe normal 50-amp service is 6 gauge wire.

I should have included that the campground is upgrading the electrical next year and moving the box behind my camper. Still not within reach but will only need an additional 20 ft or so. The 8/3 will work at that distance. The price difference from the 6/3 to the 8/3 made that decision easy.
