36RLE slideout construction/strength

Hey guys!

I'm doing some major reno work on the interior of our '99 36RLE. I'm going to be working on the ceiling and floor of our big (14') slideout, so one of the things I'm considering is to move the entertainment center and desk from the 14' slideout on the port side and move it over to the 6' slideout on the starboard side, then remove the wall dividing the dinette and slide the loveseat where the desk/entertainment center was. The new layout would open it up tremendously and make the space more usable. I've seen pictures of these models with that same configuration, however, they always have cabinets all the way across the length of the big slideout.

My concern is, would the big slideout alone (less the dividing wall) be strong enough without the cabinets over that length? Do those cabinets actually help from a stiffening standpoint or are they maybe hiding gussets or stiffeners or is it all just additional storage and decoration?

Thanks in advance!
Lorne
