5th wheel stairwell rug removal

We have a Rockwood 8280 5th wheel. We want to replace the carpet on the stairs that go up to the bedroom.

We are trying to match the stair toe metal that frames the top step to match the rest of the stairs going down. The secret compartment at the bottom is covered in the carpet in the trailer, and no matter how much we clean it, it still looks dirty.

Has anyone on the board replaced this carpet and how did you go about doing it.
