A couple small mods I've done

My wife and I picked up our camper less than two weeks ago, so I haven't had much chance to do a lot yet. Here's a few small things I've done:

Added paper towel holder
Added a key rack
Added a 12v fan in the bottom bunk
Added dedicated 30 Amp service to plug it in at home!

I picked up the 12v fan from the automotive section at Wal-Mart for about $12. It came with an on/off switch located about 6" from the fan on the cord. I took the switch out of the switch box and relocated the switch into the fan housing, on the back, and then fished the power wire to the nearby light to pick up power. Finished product is very clean looking, and worked out great!

Looks good. Yep you have to have power hook up at home and water hook up. It can be used to get away when you want. Or camp in the yard. LOL I do. You have 2 homes on the same lot. Nothing like away from home at home. LOL

Looking good. Only get worse from here on out. That's half the fun. It's all apart of making it your own.

X2 - DW was cleaning up the other day after our latest excursion and had the AC going and lights on via the 110 adapter. And that's about all the 15 amp beaker will handle. Fired up the vacuum and... poof!

Mods

Mods look good. Has anyone redone the floor on a Georgetown with tile. Thinking about removing the carpet and putting tile up front from the bathroom forward.

Watch out for voltage drop when you do that. Maybe a $15 volt meter plugged in to an easily visible plug.. If voltage drops below about 106 -108 v I would not recommend running my ac

Thanks y'all! In my previous life I was a commercial electrician for 10 years, so this was easy for me to do myself. Nearly $300 in material and a few hours of time I was up and running!

The story:

I had to run a dedicated 30 amp service for the TT because I used my adapter and plugged it into the garage. After running the A/C for about an hour the breaker tripped. I reset the breaker, after reducing the load (moved garage fridge to another circuit and unplugged the unused chest freezer). After resetting the breaker, the A/C on the TT ran for about 4 hours and we ran an errand to the grocery store. Upon coming home the A/C wasn't running. I went and checked the breaker and it was still on. I checked breakers in the TT and they were on. I pulled the plug out of the receptacle and my extension cord had burned up on the end. I am lucky the house didn't burn down! Federal Pacific electrical panels were banned in 1974, or somewhere thereabouts, for that exact reason...breakers don't properly trip.

Needless to say, there are no worries now

Looks good!! When I put the addition on our house last year (master bedroom/bathroom and 3 car garage) I had the electrician put a 30 amp RV outlet on the north side of the garage, where I also had a 16' wide concrete slab poured for parking the camper. But I had him run 8/3 wire (left the red disconnected at both ends) just in case we ever get a camper that requires 50 amp I can easily make the upgrade by just swapping the breaker and plug.
