added a screen door handle..

We've always get annoyed at having to open the little sliding hatch in order to open the screen door. I've pondered how to do this for a while. A few weeks back another member posted his solution to this issue. Here's mine.

I took a new handle, left handed door, and sanded off the latch. I then threaded a hole in the middle, and threaded another hole in the actual latch handle. I then bent the stainless welding rod, it's copper plated, and threaded the ends. The threaded ends keep the rod from falling out of the handle, and also prevents corners of a nut from causing injuries to one's hands or the screen. The threaded ends allow the rod to pivot when doing it's duty.

we used one for years. never really was satisfied with it. Many times it would get pulled out by friends/visitors, we lost the little cap on the one end within months of installation, and our pointer would pull it out whenever he wanted to irritate me. He never chewed it though.
