Added Grey Tank

Sorry all if this is not the right area to ask this but I have a 2016 Forest River Sunseeker 3010DS and that sleeps 11. Question,
I have a family of 7 plus my wife and I and we are continuously filling the grey water tank and its a pain to unhook everything and go dump frequently on only a couple day trip. Does anyone know if you can add additional tanks to these units? If so what is the procedure? I really do not want to carry around one of those extra blue tanks on wheels if at all possible.... Any help is greatly appreciated!

Short of using the black tank to dump some gray into to extend things I doubt there will be room for more tanks.

Thank you and I appreciate the rapid response. The dealer is telling me the same thing as well.. Crazy to think that an rv that sleeps 11 would have such small tanks!! Oh well.

Yeah, but I swear they say 11 but they actually mean 5.. Ever try to get 4 people in a 4 person tent.. Might get 2 comfortably! My trailer sleeps 10.. Good luck with that. I could see 4 max.

No hook ups? When we stay at water and electric only spots showers and toilet gets moved to the camp bathroom. It's not as nice as having and using my own but it's better than pulling out to just dump. I can't even imagine how big of s grey tank s family of 7 would need. That would definitely need a bigger tow vehicle!

Thanks and that's the crazy part! We DO only use the campsite facilities for showers and it still fills quite rapidly. We are new to camping and it could be that were just going to need to learn to really limit the amount of water usage at the kitchen sink. We're using it only for dish and pan washing.. When there are not full hook ups. I'm thinking of only camping where there are full hook ups though. It's a pain to unhook and go dump in the middle of a camping trip. Maybe the stupid blue tank on wheels is the only other alternative.

Average holding tanks are not designed for a group of 9 using them daily.

First camping trip we made we learned this the hard way. Site was electric only. I stopped and filled the fresh water tank on our way in. Hadn't started the hot water heater yet but DW needed water to wipe something up. So she did like at home and ran the hot (not!) water waiting on it to heat up. Filled half our grey tank and lost half our water. Lesson learned and now a good laugh. We've learned a whole new lifestyle and can do things I never thought possible. I like to think we're better people for the experiences.

And I agree with you: full hook ups are the only way to go!

I really do not want to carry around one of those extra blue tanks on wheels if at all possible....

Our TT only has a 30 gal. gray & 30 gal. black. When we camp at electric-only state park sites we bring a 42 gallon Barker Waste Tote. It can be connected to the TV hitch and towed to the CG dumpsite. Since it's just gray, we don't have to dump it right away & this allows our family of 5 to take decent showers (w/the Oxigenics shower head) for a few days between dumping.

Also, we have a 48 gallon FW bladder that I place on top of our fiberglass cap & fill-up from the main CG spigot. It fills our 42 gallon FW tank so we don't have to worry about making a bunch of trips w/smaller 5 gallon containers, etc.

It's all good. We have a roomy 2-slide TT w/3 separate rooms, outdoor kitchen, etc. that weighs less than 6,500 (empty). If they kept adding this & that it would weight a lot more...

I found that many full hookup sites are tightly packed. In comparison, some of our favorite electric-only campsites at state parks, etc. are spacious & within walking distance of natural attractions. We don't take the waste tote on every trip, just the ones that are not full hookup...

exactly the same here on both counts, our TT tank sizes and the Barker tank ....we mainly stay at full hookup sites, but that's not always possible,...... that tank is large and we only carry it when we know we'll need it,........ the convenience of not having to brake camp to go dump is worth all the trouble of carrying it,...... at such parks, we always use the park showers, because just a couple of ppl showering in the TT with no effort to conserve water use and just regular kitchen use will fill the gray tank almost every day

well, there aren't many out there with 9 humans in their RV.
and of course, the engineers/designers have to balance keeping the RV as light as possible and be hampered by a certain size/dimensions of RV.

Never mind! Found them. And yes Dan I understand this.. I for one would rather lose an extra 1/2 mile to the gallon in order to accommodate my occupants though... LOL

We use dish totes to wash and rinse the dishes in, then dump the water into the black tank. Makes the grey go lots farther.
