Adding a second a/c to a 30 amp camper.
Starting my thread with a little background and a few pics.
I have a 30 amp sabre 5th wheel that I'm adding a second a/c to.
Parts list to date.
Dometic 13.5k brisk air II non ducted unit.
Non ducted interior control panel.
20 feet of 12/2 with ground wire.
Black furrion 30 amp outside receptacle.
I decided to use my spare 50' power cable to power my second a/c .
I also went with the higher profile a/c as height will still be under dot height requirements.

How are you going to install a circuit breaker?

I'll also be adding the "new" max air vent cover system recently purchased @ the goshen rally!
I'll have two max air vents for sale.

I'm going to buy and install a single curcuit breaker box in the basement near the furrion receptacle.

Why did you stray from the ducted unit?

Won't you have a problem finding a pedistal with 2 - 30 amp receptacles?
Nevermind, you could use a 50 amp with dogleg for one of them huh?

Decided that a non ducted was the most straightforward easiest way to go since we are looking to buy a new unit next fall.

Couldn't you use a 50 amp cord and split off the second hot lead into the second breaker box after it enters the RV? Or would it confuse Progresive EMS?

Can you elaborate on this a little? I have a buddy who would like to add a 2nd AC to his unit.
Are you going to plug one (camper) into the 30 amp pedestal outlet and then plug the other (2nd AC) into the 50 amp pedestal outlet with an adapter?

I'll plug my normal camper into the 50 amp outlet via my 25 foot cord on the cg shore power via a 50 to 30 amp dogbone.
Then I'll plug the second a/c into the 30 amp cg receptacle via my 50' cord and it'll plug into my camper in the front of the unit where I'm installing a second 30 amp receptacle.
I'm going to wire the second a/c down the front ceiling into my wardrobe then Down into my basement to a single curcuit breaker box then over to the 30 amp bulkhead receptacle.
Clear as mud?

True, but the second power cord wouldn't be protected anyway. Could you tap hot #1, neutral, ground w/EMS and hot #2, neutral, ground off wo/EMS of a 50 amp cord. Or a new 50 amp EMS for your new rig when you get it. That way you would have plenty of power off one 50 amp cord.

That's basically how our 2nd AC is run. The main AC runs through the trailers main system (Our trailer is 30A )
The added 2nd AC has its own two breaker box, mine is in the toyroom. I run two 30A standard RV cords to the campground pedestal one to the 30A outlet the other to the 50A outlet with a bog bone adapter. I see no need to protect the second AC as that is all there is mainly to lose. The converter is the high $ item with the rest of the trailer system.
(I do also have a small electric frig on the second 30A System)

Seems like a lot of work when you're dealing it next fall. Do you expect the trailer value will increase accordingly?
