That your problem. Under normal charging conditions, while plugged in and charging your battery, the system will run between 13.7 and 14 volts. The LED strip is rated for 12v.

I believe they are just crappy lights! Here is one thread of others having the exact problem: Replacing LED awning lights. A quick search turned up several threads discussing the same. I was merely asking if the after market system are of better quality than the factory installed units. (Which I have hardly even turned on let alone used.) BTW A few years back I spent over $60 on a LED trouble light that lasted two years tops. The technology is always improving, but you can still buy junk! Obviously FR buys junk in bulk quantities.

I guess it's hit or miss when everything is made in China. My bet is the ones that come factory installed are made in the same place. I bought mine through Amazon after many weeks of reading reviews, watching YouTube and visiting message boards. They have been on for several months now, with no problems and everywhere I go, the next morning people always come buy to inquire about my LED strip. I just installed the same setup on my son's camper.

As I said we will be installing an RF controller on my sister's 5ver and might even replace the factory ones with the multi colored as soon as I get a chance to look a little closer.
