adding Fan-tastic to half bath sabre 36qbok

Has anyone added one of these? Install looks pretty straight forward just trying to figure out where to pull power from? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can you fish power from the ceiling light fixture?

Is there a fan in there already?

No existing fan. I plan to pull power off the light right next to it. I will see if the wire can be fished down wall to where light switch is to add another switch, but otherwise, light switch will control both. I went with the Vortex II model to avoid disturbing the roof. It installs from the inside.

Does the Vortex II make much noise? Does it fit in with any stock 14" vent opening? Variable speed? Does it change direction?

I'm told it's comparable to Fantastic fan as far as noise. Fits stock vent opening, 3 forward 2 reverse speeds. I paid $66 on Ebay.

Only reason I wanted to go with the fan-tastic is because you can get the model with the automatic opener. I dont want to have to keep a stool in there to get to the control knob since you would need to be 7' tall to reach it.

The fantastic I had in the last unit still needed you to reach it to reverse and change speeds. If fantastic is what you want, go for it. I'm 6' and it seems I had no problem reaching the knob on the vent in our unit. I'm planning on adding an AC vent in my 1/2 bath, so I figure the fan will mostly be for exhaust.

I'm 6' as well and still a little more than a foot off the turn knob in the ceiling.

I get ya.....you're looking at their fully automatic model that does everything via remote. I'll be at my dealer today, so I'll look at mine to check my reach.

If you can reach, you're friggin' TALL!

Heck, we sometimes need a smalls step-stool to reach the top of the cabinet in there.

Do they make a better fan for the bathroom original? And do they make it where you can change the fan not the whole cover assy. whereas you do have to mess with the roof?

I haven't found where they have a factory option for this. I would think anyone you do is going to require you to pull the shroud out to fish power over to it.
