Adding Maxxair 4500K

I am thinking of adding a Maxxair 4500k vent fan due to high ceilings and my sandpiper coming with a manual vent. I have a wall switch that runs the current fan. My question is if I add the 4500K and leave the wall switch on should that make it function normally? I understand the remote would have to be used to actually us the vent and fan. I am just looking at using the power to the original fan to run the 4500K. Let me know if this seems right.

Yes, that should work fine.
