Here is my mod for delaying the high fan for duo therm a/c .
You can also add in another for low fan if needed
This is for start up of the a/c when running low watt gennies.
This allows the compressor to start and the fan to delay so the peak wattage isn't all at once .
This is the delay module I bought from graingers $9.00 pt number 4e233

What generator are you running and what is the BTU of the AC unit?

I have a 7,000 watt gennie . But it still really bogs it down upon a/c start up . now it does not . even on those hot humid midwest summer it should be night and day difference .

its a 13,500 btu duo therm

7K watts and shes huffin a bit on ya? Yeesh I sure hope my twin 2K Hondas are up to the task for my 13.5K unit. This will be my first year with them.

after talking this over with shooted weve made adjustments to this to allow it to work within limits !
I will post pics again later but what it boiled down to was the delay on the actual HI blower input was to many amps for the delay module .
so I actually took the delay put of that circuit and installed in the 12v side of the fan blower input from the thermostat .
Now The delay works both on the high side and the low side .
The compressor turns on and starts running then the fan kicks on about 5 seconds later in either the hi or low setting depending on what its set at.

to jfm-jr yes it huffs a little bit but as I stated I have a 7k gennie to which i can run fridge on 110, hw on 110 as well as a tv or two not to mention the converter running . and when the a/c kicks on it takes a load to get it the a/c and fan running .
now the load is far less substantial all at one shot .

As an update we went camping this weekend and ran the air with no issues.

I am having a tough time getting to my unit to take pictures .

but it is as simple as this ..
I took off the cover to my thermostat and then locate which wire says "fan" on it .
mine was orange and about a 18-22 gauge wire very small such as phone wiring.

then I took off the filter trim panel on the inside of the camper and removed the filter .
on the right hand side of the unit you will find the same 22 gauge "orange" on mine
I simply cut the wire and put on a female spade connector on each end that I cut and then plugged them into my delay module .
then I proceeded to adjust control know till I had about a 5 second delay .
then mounted control box back into a/c area .
Done .
in the next few days I will attemet to get in there and take pictures .
heres one of the orange wire and thermostat. wire in question is on the far right and is simply labeled "fan" thats the wire you are looking for in the a/c unit

About the thermostat I would like to replace mine with a digital and part# please. My next mod is to replace the bumper that came with the Salam. I cannot even cart a rack on the back without it twisting. Going to 3/18 wall and I might even cap it to make it even stronger

Did you end up splicing back the blue wire back together on the delay, now that your using it on the 12VDC side?
Sorry - just tailing / searching the forum - I have a 2006 Cherokee 305B 5er w/ a Duo therm AC that just started having AC start up issues. After a trip from VA last week that was in the mid to upper 90's. The AC would run all day, then @ night, when it finally reached the stat set temp the AC would shut off, BUT then on start up would blow the 20amp AC breaker. I'm looking to do this mod, as well as add (replace~I think) the start up cap to a Supco Mfg. - SPP6 - Hard Start Capacitor.

It should work for you. I am using twin 2K Champions that have specs very similar to the Hondas. They run the AC fine on low fan. On high fan, they bog down.

You'll have now problem running your 13500 hth A/C with the two twin 2000 watt Hondas. We are running our 15000 hth A/C with our same setup and have power left over for other devices. I wouldn't try to run the A/C, the coffee pot, the water heater, and the microwave at the same time however.

I ran my 13.5 off a Honda eu3000is all day long in 95 degree weather this summer. I leave fan running and gen in eco mode. Spins up as soon as compressor starts. I suspect maybe my ac has a soft start capacitor? I do also run the gen on super unleaded.
