Another Bedroom TV Mount Redesign
After viewing NWJeepers TV mount for his bedroom so he could access the storage behind it, I tried the same general idea on using Cherry wood to match the cabinets. The steps were the same, however, I wanted the bottom of the cabinet to also house a DVR, so here are 10 pics showing what was done.

More Redesign
After the old TV and mount was removed, the electric was moved to the left side of the opening and a new divider was added to the right side then the TV Cabinet and mount with drop down door for DVR was installed.

Fulltime
We don't remove anything, we live in our GT378 full time. Winters in the Florida Keys, Summer in Portland/Vancouver area of the Pacific Northwest, and the Fall in Indianapolis, IN.

Why would someone remove their tv for winter storage?
The only reason I could think of was that it's stored at a lot somewhere where thieves would swipe anything valuable?

That, and if you read the warnings on most flat panel tv's freezing can ruin them.

Few Final Pics of Mod
Here are 3 more pics of the final mod with DVD player installed and clothes in place using the storage compartment behind. Works great. TV easier to see now as well since it has a tilt toward the bed.

We have a heavy CRT in the bedroom and I am thinking about a similar srt-up so we can access storage along with a DVD player. How do you lock the door to prevent it from swinging open while driving?

That latch does the trick - very nice work.
We have the same color cabinets as yours. How hard was it to find wood to match or to match up stains? Yours looks like it blends in very well.

Los Pope...I used Cherry hard wood, no stain, the project is sprayed with a clear satin laquer finish. This is the second such project earlier in the thread I made a light bar for the kitchen using the same cherry wood and finish.

Fantastic job. Only wish I was that handy with woodworking. Any chance you might consider making up 'Kits" to sell on-line. If you do I'd sure love to consider purchasing one from you.

Peskin.....my wife & I are fulltimers. I only have time to work in the woodshop around the holidays at my sons home. So although thats a interesting request, it doesn't fit in our lifestyle right now. But thanks for the compliment.

That is a great peice of workmanship; one any cabinet maker could be proud of. Hope you didn't patent it as I was visualizing doing something like that myself. I still don't know how you got the TV off the front of the wardrobe in order to commence your modification. I tugged on my TV both upward and outward and it did not budge. Your picture #1 shows the hole after the TV was removed. Was the TV screwed to that ugly little piece of plywood?

starburst2... by going in the cabinet next to where the TV was, I removed the 4 screws they use to mount the plywood which the TV was on from the partition you saw in the earlier pics. Had to do it from inside the cabinet to the right. My TV would not lift off either.
