another clothes drying hanger idea

I searched and found many clothes drying rack ideas, but most are set-up or used in only one area, usually the rear of the trailer. This idea allows you to "chase the sun". ...... My wife has tried many different ways of hanging clothes to dry outside, usually on the awning frame, but with the angle of it, they eventually slide down and get bunched together. ...... We find binder clips very useful for many things inside the trailer and I don't know why we haven't thought of this before now, but we hadn't. .........The photos below tell the story. ....... I used the large size and found that by rolling the awning flap over a short 5/8" wooden dowel they would hold just as well there. ...Thus, we can "chase the sun" for drying, if it's in the rear, in the front or even on the side, the clothes can be hung there. She's happy!......Plus, this "drying rack" can be stowed in a small zip lock bag. I'm happy......

Why would you want to scratch up your awning rail with metal clips? And yes, you will over time scratch the paint off.

no matter what it is there's always one...................

you OPEN the clip to put it onto the frame,
you OPEN the clip to remove it from the frame,
there's no reason that should result in scratching the paint,
maybe you can't do that without scratching the paint,
but some of us can,

no matter what it is there's always one......................

Great idea on the binder clips. Reading the scratch comment from brother les, try this slight modification. You can buy this Plasti Dip 14.5 oz. Black Rubber Coating-11603-6 - The Home Depot then you will greatly reduce any potential scratching. Happy now! Just sayin'

You just made a great idea even better! Cheers!!

ps - not sure how long it takes to dry, but you could use a pencil centered in the middle to keep it open until it dries and there would still be enough coverage to help prevent any possible scratching.

Hello fella10'
I have a box of those clips, they hold very well, and they will move down your rail with the movement of your clothing and scratch it up. I know that it is your stuff. Enjoy your stuff.

Brother les makes a valid point. Scratching is a function of using a harder surface (spring steel) against a softer painted surface. If, the hanger gets movement from the wind, it will move the clip. So, coat it to cushion the clip and change the harder surface to a surface softer than the painted awning arm. The end.

Powder coating is very hard to scratch....used on lots of high dollar race cars, mine included......but, I suppose there are those that could screw up a --- dream. What kind of idiot would not be careful ....squeeze the handle...that's what it's there for.

On a breezy day I could see the clips moving around with the clothes hanging on them.

Those large ones have a lot of bite.....but, as was noted earlier, there is a coating that can be applied avalible at HD....in different colors also......alot of pliers come with this coating.......sort of rubberizing.

its a clip,
you have to OPEN it to put it on,
you have to OPEN it to take it off,
mine CLIPS onto the metal and don't move,
yes, I can PUSH/FORCE it down the rail,
the wind blowing the clothes will certainly blow the clothes around,
but it won't move MY clips,

But what if a hurricane AND a tornado containing sharks comes through.. It could move!! LOL

Seriously.. Such a simple idea, I like it.
