Please tell me the carrier isn’t bracing itself on the glass of the rear hatch.

It has 8 points of contact with the truck (6 straps and two padded bars). However the majority of the weight is supported by the top two straps that hook onto the rear hatch door. A decent amount of weight is transferred to the upper padded bar, which rests on the glass. The bottom padded bar is isn't on the glass, but also doesn't carry much weight.
Of course, this all depends on your vehicle, as to where the supports rest. I've towed this probably a few thousand miles so far, and haven't had an issue yet, but it has worried me as well. I'm sure if it busts the window it'll be while I'm in the middle of nowhere and it's pouring rain.
The only real problem I've had with it so far was when I tried to go through a drive through pizza joint. It was one where you go through a garage type door, and I forgot I had the (empty) rack back there. It hit the door, bent the rack down, and got tangled up with some of their refrigerant lines. Luckily everything came out with little more than some scratches.... OOPS!

That's a great setup! I usually have my bike up there too. My kids range from 10yo-4mos. So, I see me adding more in the next few years.

That's a great idea! If you have any pictures of your setup, I'd really appreciate it.
I have never seen that and didn't realize you could put it on the front. I might give that a try. Thanks!
