Anyone know of an upgrade for the oven?

Hi we own a 2017 forest river 27dbk and currently the suburban oven is a pile of garbage.

Mainly it burns everything (me and my wife are excellent bakers with the oven) before we moved back into the trailer we never had a problem burning anything at the house on a electric stove.

Its pretty sad because a meal like pizza turns out pretty disgusting because of how burnt the bottom is and we cut the temp down even.

No idea on replacement, but we use a pizza stone on the bottom rack to spread the heat out. Food goes on middle rack. It helps.

Don't think there is a replacement, they all burn the food. The pizza stone or unglazed tiles on the bottom should help you out.

Common complaint. Solution: Get yourself a quality pizza stone that fits in the oven, but DOES NOT cover up the holes around the edges. Place it on top of the burner shelf. Do not use cheap ceramic floor tiles, glazed or unglazed as they will crack. Most of all, follow the instructions on the pizza stone! We double wrapped ours in thick aluminum foil just in case it cracks. You might want to invest in an oven thermometer to see what the actual temperature is compared to what you set it at. We found our 5 degrees hotter than what we set it for.

Another solution used by some is an Air-Bake cookie sheet in place of the pizza stone. Either works, but the cookie sheet warps under heat.

I might add that the pizza stone does work. We have no more bottom-burnt biscuits or cinnamon rolls.

Or get a good toaster oven and use the camper oven for storage.

We use 2 8 x 8 unglazed floor tiles from lowes end to end over the burner
and it works well . ovens are very good at burning stuff.

Stop Oven Burning.

I have a combination Microwave. It has Microwave, Standard, and Convection Ovens all in one. It is installed where a normal microwave would be. Now that I'm use to it I love. With the Convection it's like a air cooker. With the regular oven gone, below the burners, I picked up 2 extra drawers.

Here's what we use and it works perfectly. It also fits the oven perfectly.

Heavy Duty Ceramic Pizza Grilling Stone

I purchased a small microwave cart from Walmart. Then purchased a Oster convection oven. It doesn't take up much room and i just use our old oven for storage. The Oster convection oven works great and doesn't heat up the whole camper. It has an extension on the back that lets you cook a whole large pizza.

The ceramic pizza stone is the common solution. Read the instructions. Some of them say to soak in water before placing in the oven to prevent cracking. Also I've heard that a thermometer that hangs on the grate is helpful as the calibration for accurate temp sometimes needs an adjustment. Make the effort to figure it out and you will go from hating it to being able to cook biscuit, cakes or anything you desire.

Heavy Duty Ceramic Pizza Grilling Stone

On the advice of Bama Rambler in a previous thread a couple years ago about crappy R/V ovens, we purchased this very stone and it solved our issues.

Highly recommended. Thanks again Bama!

Try a Pizza Stone in the bottom or rip out the useless oven and make a nice cabinet in there.
Some Manf are even offering units without an oven and only a burner top.

We use the counter top Avanti oven or Microwave. Avanti has a dedicated pizza oven tray in the bottom, has convection oven setting, bakes a small roast, even does toast!
It doesn't heat up camper any more than running the oven does.
I don't know about the power consumption limit of plugs or breakers, as we don't usually run coffee maker or other devices all at once so have never had a breaker trip.

Yep, very common complaint and very common solutions of pizza stone or ceramic tile.
Thousands of threads on this, in every RV forum.

If you're really serious about your pizza and make it from scratch, raising the dough and all that, you should consider an inexpensive pizza oven like the one below to do it justice.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pizzacraf...C6500/46905380

One of our camping crew has one, and it's awesome!

You're expecting too much from your Suburban to do anything more than bake Crescent rolls.

DW is serious baker. Even bakes our own bread on trips. When our 2018 38A came without an oven, it was a dealbreaker. So, Motorhomes2Go installed a Furrion. Great gas oven. DW is very pleased!

Pizza stones on floor of oven not covering holes + oven thermometer. I did this with my old collapsible Coleman stove oven, I can bake like a gourmet baker with this setup.

Exactly! After one iteration of burnt biscuits we figured ours out, and it works fine. Unlike others, I refuse to turn the oven into a $400 bread box.
