what type of mastic/grout did you use? we want to replace the ugly wall paper border around the kitchen and stove that was not put on very well at the factory. (they left wrinkles and bubbles in it and when they went over the seam sticks, they left spaces there. I don't want to sue the smart tiles because there are only 2 inched of space between the wall and the stove and I don't want to melt the smart tiles

We used the peel & stick smart tiles from Lowes. But, I think they're discontinuing them. Where I got mine they're all gone.....including the display rack.

When we were purchasing them, a contractor gave us a hint. He said they were good but, suggested using a hair dryer to heat them up a little after taking the backing off. This softens the adhesive. I also heated the wall a little then stick them in place. Look great and no peeling after over a year.

We just did the peel and stick smart tiles on our kitchen back splash and bathroom between the top of the vanity and bottom of the mirror. Looks nice and lightweight. We got ours at the local Home Depot.

It cost $60 to do kitchen and bathroom. Mine came in 12x12 squares. Only needed 6. There were some more expensive.

Just finished with the kitchen portion, have a heater on it to help them stay warm as it's about 45 here. Click image for larger version

We are considering doing this to our Roo. All of these pictures look great - but specific question for you. We have a seem in the very corner of our bathroom - similar to what is on your wall in the very lefthand side of these pictures. We are debating whether to simply place the tiles over the seam & keep it intact, or to cut that seam out exactly where we would be placing the tiles. We're not sure what, if anything, it connects to behind the wall, and if it's simply there for looks - or serves some purpose that would make cutting it out, ummm, unwise...Did you have a corner seam to contend with?

Yes I did-there was a 1" piece of trim in the corner held in place by a couple staples. I pried it off then placed the tiles in place. There was a small gap where panels met that will cause me to run a clear bead of silicon. I them trimmed the 1" trim piece to fit just above the sticky tiles.

Thank you - that was exactly what I was looking for! And thanks for the great pics!

Thanks to all for the ideas & input on how to install - we finally got around to putting in the Smart Tiles today. Went very smoothly and easily, and we're very happy w/the results! Next project will be the backsplash over the stove. We're going to try something a little different there - will post pics if it works out!
