I am making some modifications to my new (new for me) Forest River. Pulled out the bunk beds and tomorrow will pull out the couch. The bunk bed area will be an office - computer desk, chair, book case. The couch is being replaced with a washer and a dryer. My question - how do I secure these things? What are best practices when it comes to screwing into the walls and floor?
very similar to a house strongest surface is the floor next the wall studs and lastly the wall board. Same basic attaching hardware is used (screws, plastic plugs, etc) just be thoughtful of the length I would use nothing longer then 1.25 inches

Be careful with screws on outside walls as they are thin.
I've found this type of hook and loop fasteners are very strong. It's not your normal velcro. We have some pictures mounted with these and have never had a problem. These could be used under the legs to attach to the floor and it's not going anywhere.

Thank you SeaDog! That was exactly the information I was looking for.
I am also removing things (the bunk beds and couch). They will leave holes. Do you have a suggestion for what to use to cover those screw holes? I'm guessing plastic wood might be good.
Cool TeeTime. Thank you. That's another great idea. Do you know what stores (physical and online) carry that?
I know our local Lowes has them. I'd imagine that the are also available at Amazon and Walmart.com.
We keep some extras of these and some lighter weight ones like the command strips in our traveling tool kit and supplies...pretty handy.
Velcro is just about the best invention since cold beer!

Small holes? Wood plugs, some wood fillers. Stain to match. Large holes cover with a plate, such as a blank electrical cover.

My washer/dryer combo was screwed into the floor with basic screws.

Too late. Today was demolish day. I still have not figured out how this trailer was put together, but I can tell you, it was not designed to be taken apart.
Had to destroy the bunk beds in order to get them out. When I took the couch apart I decided I wouldn't save it either. Finally, I removed a panel in the storage area below the sink to get the sink plumbing. Had to destroy the panel to get it out.
I can give you detailed info for how I took things apart, over the phone, if you would like.
thanks for response, I was wondering if it will turn into a demolishing project, unable to save anything. . thanks for phone offer I appreciate it. you answered what I wanted to know. but do post your finished work. good luck.

What I did when I needed to attach something to the outside wall was to get the drawng from FR showing the wall stud layout. I used a stud finder to verify the location. Also when I removed bunks I installed moulding where the upper bunk had been attached to the wall. I made my oun sofa bed in the bunk area that I can take out and use the area for something else as needed.
I couldn't get a link directly to the video, but if you go to thie web page "rvlove.com" and search their videos you'll find one showing how they converted their bunks to an office.
Appreciate the web sight. Will not be able to respond for over 2 weeks. I will not be ignoring , just going to our vacation home, in the Sierras , in the boonies, off the grid, no phones,no internet, just fun. taking my kids and grand kids. Our annual get away. I know , where in California is this possible.... shhhhh. its a secret. Hundreds of miles of dirt trails.... Will be looking forward to seeing your project when I return.... No I do not take my RV, it would get totally scratched up, and the road has gotten pretty beat up. Have fun on your project.
Thanx David
