Automatic Leveling
I'm looking at either the Lippert 6 point ground control or the Lippert Level Up. There is only a $400 difference in the price of having them install it. Can anyone give me the pros and cons of the two different systems? I'm putting this on a 2016 Heritage Glen 268RLBHK 42' 5th wheel.

Don't know what the difference is, but I have the Lippert 6 point auto level system on my FR Vengeance toy hauler. The ability to press one button, and have the camper perfectly level, is a godsend. You can also manually control front, left, right, rear if you need to. The digital battery voltage readout gives you a real time look at the battery, rather than the idiot lights.

Hydraulic. A 12 volt motor runs the hydraulic pump. If your battery is low, it ain't gonna work without a jump or fire up the genny.

Guys, just keep one thing in mind about this system, if you "overextend" any one of the jacks the system will shut down and then you will have to manually bring back the slides and jacks using a drill and 1/4" bit. Always use blocks under the high side. Just say its voice of experience talking. My system is electric over hydraulic.

IMO, ditch Lippert and look at the Quadra Bigfoot system. Any time that I can avoid Lippert, I do so.

That's what's nice about the electric system, just a small 2x6 under each leg. No need to carry around bulky blocking

I only carry 6 10 x 10 x 1 1/4" boards now and only use them when I need to. Especially under front jacks.

Hey Turbs, is there a weight limit on the electric system? I would think hydraulic is going to lift more weight it you have a bigger rig.

My 5er only weighs 11,000 dry. I'm thinking electric my be the better choice.

I decided on the 6 point electric system. I spoke with Lippert and they said they would install the 6 point hydraulic system at the rally price of $4,100 out the door or the electric system out the door for $3,950. Both quite a good deal.

I had the 4 point electric and never failed me and work every time. Now I have the 6 point hydraulic and it the battery gets down to 12.1 volts it only works in spurts. I hook it up to the truck and let run for 30 minutes and works fine. I do have two class 27 batteries but I also have 1000 watt inverter that runs my 120V fridge. The hydraulic is a lot faster than electric where it took couple minutes for the electric the hydraulic does it about 45 seconds. My 4 point electric was on 11400 lbs 33 foot 5er and my hydraulic is on a 14,300 lbs 39 foot 5er.

I have the hudralic 6 point on our 33IK and love it so far... My question on electric units.. How do you manually retract? Do you have a motor on each leveler so only one fails at a time unlike hydraulic if motor fails all Jacks stop?

If 1 fails with electric you can actually pull the electric motor head from one of the other jacks put it on the failed jack to use to retract it.

So you have 6 motors? I haven't had a failure yet but I kind of like the ability to use a drill to run the one motor to use the hydraulic system manually.
Back in my engineering days I always remember that reliability goes down with more parts to fail. I know with hydraulics there are other things to fail but the 6 motors and wiring seem to me to have more chance to fail.
I guess if I had to make the decision, I would go hydraulic but then again I am biased because I already have hydraulic system..

I don't have the system installed yet, from my research the jacks each have a top and bottom manual override port to use a drill or socket wrench. I ultimately decided the electric system because if I did have a jack failure I believe I could switch out easier myself, and no pump or fluid lines to worry abou failing or leaking.

We are camping and the 5er couple rows over his Hydraulic Jacks didn't work nor would the drill running the pump. He level up screen was failed and wouldn't operate the jacks even with the pump/drill running.
