Awning Roles up with Crease In It.

Have a 2014 Wildwood 300bh that has a power awning. I noticed that as the awning nears fully rolled up that creases start to show and once fully rolled up the awning isn't nice and flat like it should be.

Is there a fix for this? Hate to do anything that would damage the awning or arms. Just looking for feedback.

I've noticed that as well with my power awning. Part of it may be due to not having the awning centered on the roll but I think its also normal uneven stretching of the material by the wind.

Is there a proper way to center the awning fabric on the tube? Do you just tug on the fabric to move either way?

Mine appears to be correctly centered on the tube, but it does the same thing. It is a Carefree of Colorado, and I wonder if the Dometics do it, too.

Ours is perfectly centered, and also does it. It is just a reflection on the cheap material they are now using for the awning "fabric". Ours has never held any water that might have stretched it, and yet it still hangs down in the center.
The awning on our old camper never sagged, even after 10 years, and having holes punched through it from hail. It rolled up nice and straight until the day we replaced it.
Is it really necessary for the manufacturers to cheap-out on every single component of our not-so-inexpensive campers?

I don't feel bad knowing this is a problem wide spread. Mine has never been out in the rain and it sags in the middle. I guess I will live with it.

Yes; just "flap" it while you tug the material. When properly positioned, so that it rolls up correctly, pop rivet the material to the roller with short 3/16 pop rivets. If you can find the ones with large "rivet heads" even better.

This is "normal" in that when the awning is out and the wind is blowing the awning material will flap and slide in the roller. When this happens, the awning may show wrinkles or even bind up the electric awning arms if shifted far enough (about 1/2 inch or so).

After reading a while back what herk did, I got home from offshore and adjusted mine as the forward arm was starting to bind up. Straightened fabric up with some minor tugs, arms work perfect now. But, even though the fabric is spot on straight, alligned or whatever you want to call it, it still wrinkles. Doesn't bother me none. Very few I've owned have ever looked just perfect. They serve their purpose. I had read a few ways of putting slack in the fabric, one of which was have somebody push up on the roller tube while others adjusted. Just not easy. What I did was roll it out a 3-4 feet, run a strap on each end from where the roller tube mounts back to the angled brace / shock, and continued unrolling the fabric. The straps on each end hold all the framework in place and you can roll all the fabric off of the roller. Very easy.
