awning screen rooms

Hi we have been looking in catalogs at the various brands of screen/outdoor rooms that attach to the awnings. We have a TT. Can anyone tell us what their experience has been with these and which brands are good and which to maybe stay away from...thanks

I'm interested in any comments as well. We've got a seasonal spot, and although we are using a separate gazebo, I'm curious as to how the screen rooms hold up in mild-medium winds, etc.

Years ago we had one for our Coleman pop-up. If we were staying more than a couple of days I put it up and found it worthwhile. Among other things our well-behaved Boxer respected it as the limits of his yard (under supervision, of course). We also could fit a small folding picnic table with seats in the corner of the room and could cook, eat and relax all in the same space. It was compact but, no, it wasn't cramped.

Ours was a roll-out awning with simple upright poles at the far edge. I don't know how the screen room would work (if at all) with the newer electric or manual self-supporting awnings. I'm interested to find out because we're about to take delivery on an HTT with an electric awning and would like to consider using the screen room when convenient.

Ours was actually very effective but was a pain to erect. If your stay was longer than a couple of days it could be worth it but I never used it for 3-day weekends.

In addition to keeping bugs out, the screen room had the added value to us of keeping dogs and toddlers in.

We like the Screen we purchased from SunPro Manufacturing. Excellent quality and made to size with choice of colors. Maybe a little pricey compared to others, but you can get a 10 year warranty. I've read reviews on their products. I especially like the zipper option for easy setup.

Ted, the awning I had experience with was over a decade ago on a pop-op. The outside edge of the awning was supported by vertical poles to the ground and had stretcher poles from the camper to the outside rail. The combination of stretchers and uprights made for a very rigid frame.

I can't imagine how screen rooms work with a modern electric self-storing awning. What supports the weight of the extra fabric and keeps it from shifting up and down?

Some sort of awning tube support poles.

Speaking of which, do you have any of your custom tie-down attachments available?
