I WAS outside my one year warranty when I did the flip, but I was not to concerned about it anyways. For it to affect this they would need to be able to show and prove what was done is why the item failed. But looking at the risk of bottoming out and this damage I quickly out weighed any chance of issues with FR with the benefit of the higher ground clearance.

The actual flip was easy, it cost $20 in new axle spring hangars from the local trailer shop. Everything else was just the effort of actually getting the springs and axle re-located. The brake wires were also lengthened to allow for the slightly longer distance.

I towed several 1000 miles now (still on 14" stock tires and rims) and have had nothing but good results.

I think I will wait until my year is up before I do it. I think it can wait while I research more and talk to some local shops about doing it. I have some skid wheels which should help in the mean time.

Axle Flip done on the Grey Wolf 26DBH

You could go up to a 16 inch wheel and then get a 10 ply bfgoodrich or Michelin. I went with a michelin xps rib LT225/75R16 E. Plenty of room but mine is a single axle and plenty of room under wheel well. Not sure about double axle.
I measured the width of a new triple step and it wouldn't have just bolted in so wife picked up a lightweight step at target.
I just towed ours to Florida and it towed fine. I haven't experienced wind gust yet but if I see I will have a problem I will just add another sway controller.

You actually found rims? Mine are 5 on 4.5.. Never actually found rims under 6 lugs.
