Question Backup camera install

Hi out there,

I am new to the forum. Recently bought a 2007 Sunseeker 2250. I also bought a backup camera and a passenger side camera from RearView Safety.

Does anyone have experience with installing backup cameras? Who did the installation? Where did you install the monitor? Is there a simple way to install the side camera?

Anything else I should know about installating or using the cameras?

Sandi

I can't answer your questions but I did want to say hello and welcome to the forums. And congrats on your new-to-you Sunseeker too!

Never installed one in a RV but have installed several in my trucks. Not really that much to them, normally the hardest part is just running the wires. You will have to either get a stand alone screen to see the picture on or change your main radio to one with a screen. And I do not know about a side view camera at all. Not sure if anyone makes a screen that turns the side camera on when turning.

Hi,
I did backup up cam for our Flagstaff 831RLSS. Check out www.ucam.com
Wireless Cameras and monitors. I have used mine for 4 years, two years with current trailer and different ucam camera with old Wanderer TT That one was hard wired and a royal pain to do.. On my Flagstaff, there is a center light at rear top of trailer, and I mounted the ucam Model 9901T wireless camera there and hooked the power lead to the running light wiring. The 7610 Monitor sits on my dash and is powered by the cigarette lighter type plugin. I also bought the 842T magnetic camera for my tailgate when I am hitching up. Depending on your TV you may have to turn your TV lights on to power the TT running lights, and rear camera. Both these cameras are wireless as far as the rear camera signal from cameras to the monitor. Any questions let me know.

I had this system installed by an RV repair shop while my brand new trailer was being repaired. clipped a van pulling it out of storage. peeled the corner of the back wall off. Since the entire back had to be replaced was easy to hide the wire for the rear camera. the side cameras were mounted just above the access doors for the LPG tanks. for my truck, have the monitor connector sitting on the middle of the dash. cord is hidden between dash and windshield. ordered an 8' monitor extension cord, so I could disconnect the monitor, when not in use, and not have to cut/splice wires myself. have the monitor suction cupped to windshield when towing. I will upload pictures this week when I get my trailer.

hp178, Thank you! I have been trying to figure out how to install this system cleanly, and your extention cord idea is exactly what I needed to hear. I would love if you get the chance to post up a few photos for me.

Would have liked the cord to be near the pin but they told me they would have to pull the bottom of the cap off. Decided to let them mount the connection near the front jack switch.

Picture of the monitor removed. Just the extension plug visible on the dash.

Bought this setup from rear view safety. Added the trailer tow quick disconnect and the 8' monitor extension.

Hello,
I do not have a camera installed but I want to install one on my FW this summer. I have been looking at all the options my trailer is 40 ft so it would have to be a hard wire. The hardest part seems to get the camera wire down the back wall and out. Been looking at the camera setups at rear view safety.

McMahon's RV in Long Beach installed my backup with the ADVENT radio/GPS etc. system. Very clean install and excellent unit for a reasonable price.

Voyager makes a wireless system. The Camera mounts and is wired to center light at rear of trailer. A wireless monitor in mounted in the truck cab. We ordered this as an option on our Columbus. Works great.
