Even cheaper... call the manufacturer directly.

http://www.barkermfg.com

I just bought the 3000# model with the micro-switch stops today. $185 + $12 shipping.
Your shipping may be slightly more, as I am in Michigan, and so is the Mfg.

Make sure what ever one you get, that it has the micro-switch stops.
That way it keeps you from ratcheting the gears when you extend it all the way.
Many manufacturers don't put them in.

Thanks for the link jenielsen, will they give a price over the phone? and will they sell to just everyone. Looks like there is quite a mark up on them.

I will have to call them to see if they will ship to Canada.

Yes, they will sell to anyone and will give you the price over the phone.
When you call the phone #, ask for parts department.
If I recall, the 3500# was something like $225 or right around there.

I would imagine with them in Michigan that they probably have experience shipping to Canada.

Yeah, the markup seems huge... Some dealers are selling these things for $380!!! When I called them originally, I tried to spoof them with a "I got a lower price from one of your dealers for $159 (RVPartsOutlet.com)", but she said that they must have been selling a lower quality model (with no micro-switches). Sure enough she was right. They were selling the VIP model that doesn't have the micro-switches.

Basically, just so that I'm clear, the micro-switches stop the motor from cranking on the gear when it reaches the end of the shank when you are extending it, and also stops the motor once you have fully retracted the shank up.

I just got mine today. Probably will try to install next weekend.

Let us know how you make out on installing the jack.......

Not sure on what weight of jack I should get..........is there a chart on how to tell which one is right for each application?

Well, some people think the 3500# is the way to go... but I have a 28' + '03 Tahoe and I talked to both the manufacturer and the dealer and both said 3000# is enough. Just remember, you not only have tongue weight of the trailer, but you will also be lifting the back of your tow vehicle.

So, I didn't get it done last weekend as hoped, but I installed it tonight... Talk about easy!!!

Those three bolts that hold the manual in are the only thing between having a manual and having an electric. I had to purchase a large "O" terminal ring to put on the end of the wire that goes to the battery, but total install time was like 15 minutes. SUPER easy...

Here's the entire process in a nutshell:
1) Hook your trailer up to your tow vehicle
2) Relish in the fact that's the last time you'll have to manually crank it
3) Take out the three bolts from the manual jack and remove it
4) Sand or scratch the paint on the tounge where the front bolt goes through (to ground the electric jack)
5) Put the electric jack in the hole, and re-install the three bolts
6) Put a purchased large "O" ring terminal on the wire
7) Route the wire back to your battery and put on the positive
8) Try it out!!!

Now, on to the next thing in my mod list...

PS - I would have taken pictures, but it was so easy to do, I forgot to snap some.

Glad to hear that the install went well.
I was watching this thread and thinking about adding an electric jack to my list.
Very helpful, thanks!

Well, the fact is I was somewhat forced to change out the jack...

I went to pick it up from storage, and when I used the manual jack to lift the truck/trailer hitched together to put the load-levelers on, it jumped out of the screw. I couldn't get it back in. So I said to myself, "Self, It looks like now is a good time to put on the electric jack."

Yes, I did... That way it keeps those, "You never answer me" arguments to a minimum.

jenielsen,
Tracked this thread down for the info, and your last post brought a smile to my face, again.

MrSen,
Did you end up going with a power jack on your 25RS?
If so, which one?

I think this is next on my list, but I wonder if the 3500# barker with 2-1/4" tube will be too tight to fit the coupler mounting plates...
I didn’t trust the tape measure, so actually ended up measuring the tube on my manual crank jack with the calipers.
Tube OD on the existing jack is ~2.20”.
There is a little room in the plate holes outside of the existing jack, but not much…
I was thinking I’d like to go with the 3500, but if it’s not going to fit, the 3000# model should still work.

I did not do the power jack "yet"........lol. I did do some research and the 3000# barker is plenty for the 25rs, not to mention the price. But, if you like overkill like I do, the 3500# would be the way to go.

I do like overkill...

Hey, jenielsen,
Do you know the model number for the 3000# jack you ordered?
Was it a 2-1/4" tube, and did it fit well?

Sorry, I don't know why I don't get emailed when someone replies to this thread. It says that I'm on Instant email notification and my email in my profile is right...
Anyway, here is the one I got (upper left corner - Hi Power 3000):
http://www.barkermfg.com/product_pag...wer_jacks.html

Not sure on the tube size, and my trailer is at my parents this weekend.

Just buy one... It's a great investment and you'll wonder why you ever did
without it. Mine picks up my 27BHSS + the back end of my 2007 Denali just fine...

I took your advice and swung past the dealer after work and picked up a 3500.

They gave me the "sale price" which was probably close to buying direct from Barker + shipping.

Install went pretty quick (~30 minutes at most).

Hopefully that's the last time I'll be sweating from jacking the trailer tongue!
