battery disconnect
Just installed a battery disconnect on our Windjammer.. I used a panel mount safety switch with a key by Battery Doctor, and a 19" battery cable from Duralast. I mounted the switch on the top of the battery box. Works great!!

Nicely done and a good mod everyone should have if their rig did not come with a way to disconnect the batteries during storage.

Nice and you are sure not to loose the lid to your battery box now.

Go to batterymart.com the part number is ACC-41860 . Some rv dealers have them too, but they charge twice the price like anything else.

Are there mounting screws that come with the switch in order to mount it to the box? I like this set up as it's clean and easily accessible.

No it did not come with the mounting screws. I went through my collection and came up with the two small bolts and nuts to match.

Looks great. Can you tell me how you wired it? Hard to tell from the picture. Thanks,

OK, I picked one up at harbor freight today pretty cheap. I'll have to find my own mounting nuts but wanted to know how it's wired? I see that you purchased a seperate 19" battery cable and wanted to make sure I do the wiring correctly. If you don't mind could you post or send me a PM on how to wire it up. I've read where people went off either the negative or positive side of the battery and didn't know if it made a difference.

All,
I picked up a switch at Harbor Freight Tools as well. $1.98 plus tax after discount. Not sure what for, but did not argue. I have a question about battery charging and the converter. When I owned a sailboat, I had a big bold sign by my battery disconnect switch to never turn it off while running the diesel. Is this a problem with RV systems? What happens if you forget to turn on the battery switch and plug into shore power with the converter energized? Will that damage the converter? How about when the trailer is connected to the TV? Sorry for newbie questions, but I want to make sure I do not set myself up for future problems. Thanks.

No one has ever mentioned anything like that, may be wise to call your local dealer.
