Battery disconnect
Salem hemisphere 282rk I installed a Plate by the side of the battery and installed a 50amp marine disconnect. Still not sure why it does not come with one being things stay on when 100% shut down. Next I'm going to install a quick connection for a battery tender for winter storage.

I did the same on my 282RK but mounted the switch to the battery box itself. That way the connections on the switch are protected inside the box. There is enough room in the box for the switch posts and the battery itself.

Yea I used the marine switch because all the wires are enclosed in the switch. I'll try to post a picture

What is the purpose of using the battery disconnect switch? I would think most people leave their TT plugged in while storing it so the battery will stay charged. Is there something i'm not considering here?

I actually think either the opposite is true or it is more evenly split 50/50 to people storing their campers without plugging then in.
I know I'm on that side- I couldn't keep the camper at home and the storage lot didn't offer power.

I have the same TT and need to do this. I usually disconnect the cable for short term and during the winter remove the battery. The switch would be sweeter for sure.
Please post pics of what you guys did.
Also where you purchased the switch with a part number if you have it.
Thanks!

Here is the switch I installed.
Amazon.com : Blue Sea Systems m-Series Mini On-Off Battery Switch with Knob- Red : Boating Battery Switches : Sports & Outdoors
And now that I remember, I did install the entire unit on the outside of the box.

I used the same Blue Sea ON-OFF switch as the one in Teamfour's link. I mounted it on the top front face of the battery box facing the propane tanks so it's protected from driving rain while traveling. Plus, mounting it on the front vertical face and immediately below the lid ensures better protection and water run-off than mounting it on the top of the battery box.

I use my battery tender year round when not out camping. I do not leave plugged in. Easier on battery and no worries about weekly T-storms damaging convertor. Last TT battery going strong when traded after 6 yrs using this method.

I also have a disconnect but mine is the cheaper one from Wal-Mart but does the same thing. So, between camping trips I unplug the unit and turn off the battery disconnect. Winter time I will do the same thing except periodicity I plug up the unit to give the battery a boost to maintain. However I have a building at home for storage with a 30 Amp for the camper which makes it easy for me to do this. If I had to store it away from home I would use a battery tender if there was power; if not I would pull the battery's and take them home. Just my 2 cents.

My Super lite has a battery disconnect in the kitchen by the power center (breakers, fuses,etc.). I thought they all did.

On my old Puma Unleashed I installed a battery disconnect also. Got sick of flat dead batteries only 2 days after a trip. Just got in the habit of unhooking them at the same time I shut off propane tanks. All my batts always get pulled in winter and stored in an insulated room in my shop on a Tender charger throughout the winter. Using this method allowed me to go 5+ yrs on batteries. The disconnect was protected in the battery box.
I do this on my boat, RV, ATV's, lawnmowers, etc etc.
The new trailer has a disconnect already installed or I would do the same again.
