I had a grill on the side of my Rockwood Popup for 10 years. I can't see there being any heat problem. The bracket for the grill holds the grill out from the camper wall. They are not great big grills, mine was the 2003 model, and they have changed a bit since then. I did melt the temp knob a little in the beginning, so I know it was getting pretty hot. The side of the camper was never hot to the touch.
